January is always an exciting time for MK Marlow. The turning of the calendar energizes the team and signals new opportunity ahead.
Launching into Q1, 2021 is set up to be an impactful year as we contribute, through the projects we work on, to the changing landscape. One project that we’re especially excited about is the Moody Center.
Built on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, Texas, this new, 10,000 seat arena will be home to Texas Men’s and Women’s Basketball. With expansion capability to 15,000 seats, the Moody Center will quickly become an in-demand space to host events and concerts. Replacing the existing Erwin Center, the venue is set to open in 2022. Our work under Hunt Construction Group, Inc., General Contractor, includes cold form metal framing, gypsum wall assemblies, linear wood and metal ceilings, acoustical ceilings and other acoustical specialties. Keep track of progress through the construction webcams.
Another project helping to shape the San Antonio, Texas area is 7600 Broadway, a mixed use development at the corner of Broadway and Nacogdoches that originally broke ground in 2019. This project takes part in the development of the broader Broadway corridor, connecting the airport with downtown San Antonio. MK Marlow’s work with Embrey Builders, LLC, is going strong into the New Year. The finished building, scheduled to be complete in fall of 2021, will boast 216 apartments and 53,000 square feet of office space. MK Marlow’s work includes cold form metal framing, drywall, and interior linear wood ceilings.
Juan Martinez, Project Manager for the project explained, “It’s inspiring to be part of building of such a beautiful structure. The combination of living and office space speaks to the demand in the area. The views are going to be fantastic on all sides.”
Looking later into 2021, the year promises additional growth of MK Marlow, an office expansion, remodel, and a few new projects we can’t share just yet, but keep on the lookout, we’ll give an update soon!
